Q: what car is better a camaro or a trans am?
whats usually faster, i know they are almost the same thing but i want to get one.
A: I own a shop, a race car & truck. I would give the edge to the Camaro, and this is “only” because the engine is a little different, and making it faster is cheaper than the Trans Am. If I were to choose between the two, it would be hard if I based my decision on speed because both are just as fast. The difference is; I can make the Camaro a lot faster on less money than the Trans Am. Lets say this; 500 horsepower can be acheived with a Camaro for mush less than the Trans Am, so since I like saving money, the Camaro is what I would choose.
Glad to help out, Good Luck!!!
Q: What kind of license plate holder should I buy for my trans am?
I have a 98 trans am that I need to put a license plate on the front of. Unfortunately the front of my car comes to a point. I heard that there is a special type of license plate holder that slips on underneath the car. Does anyone know what this is called? I remember the guy saying you can only buy them online.
A: call your local pontiac dealer and ask the parts man.
Q: What is the name of the limited edition Trans am 3rd that looks like an europeen car?
If I remember well, it was made during only 1 year and its name start with a ”T”. There is only around 400-1200 trans am of this edition. An other detail is that there is ram air on every side of the doors to make its look more like an exotic car.
Thank you.

I don’t think any of them look European.
Q: How does a Trans-Am drive in the winter?
I am contemplating buying an ‘86 trans am but I would need to drive it during the winter. I know it’s probably a bad idea, but is it a totally ridiculous idea? Mind, by winter I do mean snow and ice and the like.
A: It really depends. How well can you drive? I mean on a cleared paved road it isn’t too bad but you’ll really learn how to drive if you have to go down dirt roads. I drove my cousin’s 82′ Trans Am last winter for a few weeks and I have to go down a couple dirt roads to get to the shop I work at. It wasn’t as horrible as most people say but I had to go real slow around corners or the car would start drifting. All in all it isn’t a totally horrible idea just don’t be surprised when it gets a little loose in some corners.
Q: How much would it cost to rebuild the 403 oldsmobile engine for my 79 Trans am?
Due to higher gas prices I’ve recently decided not to put in the 454 and instead just have the original 403 olds rebuilt in my 79 Trans am. I don’t have the tools to do this myself, so I am trying to get a ball park figure of how much this is going to run me for.
A: FYI, MPG won’t be much different for 454 from 403. Proper rebuild if you do it yourself with machine costs about 1500. If someone else does it all, probably about 3 or 4 grand.
Q: what is the spark plug placement on a distributer cap for a 1978 trans am?

Q: Where could i find a 1981 trans am decal?
I’ve been helping my friend with his trans am, and the last piece we need is the Phoenix decal. He has a 1981 fire bird trans am turbo, where could i find this decal at? The decal is the one with the Phoenix looking to its left breathing out fire.
A: Here

Q: What kind of engine should I put in a 1981 Trans Am?
The car is in good shape but I hate that 301 thats in it. If it were a turbo it would be ok, but I want something that gives it that classic Trans Am trust. I was thinking possibly a 350 5.7.
A: Be careful to check your state emission laws, some require an original equipment engine, which would mean a 301 turbo is all you can get.
If that isn’t a problem, a Pontiac 455 will bolt right in and provide the most torque for fun around town. Torque is what kicks you in the pants, not horsepower.
But it can be hard to find a 455. If you can’t get your hands on one, or if you’re more interested in racing, the Pontiac 400 is the better motor. It is actually better suited to making power at higher revs. Its bore to stroke ratio contributes to higher volumetric efficiency, and its smaller main journal bearings reduce friction at high revs.
Any of these will fit your car without any trouble at all.
Check out the link to buy one, I’m sure there are others. You might even find one locally.
Q: Is there an HID conversion kit for the 2000 pontiac trans am?
Where can i find an HID kit for my 2000 trans am WS6?

Q: what is the difference between the 2002 trans am with and without traction control?
I was looking at several 2002 Trans Am and i see that some have a traction control button and some that dont have this button. what is the difference between these two?
A: Um, one has traction control, the other doesn’t… ;^)
This was an extra cost option for years, that’s all. Traction control basically uses the abs and engine management systems to limit power to the drive wheels. The button you see is actually an ATS disable switch, which will allow you to turn it off to get yourself out if you’re already stuck.
Hope this helps!
Q: How much would it cost to turn a hard top 88 trans am into a t-top?
How much would i be looking at turn a hard top 88 trans am into a t-top?
A: Check Home Depot for price of Sawzall and you’ll know how much it will cost to turn it to t-top. You can also make a convertible. Lol. Just kidding man. I just wanted to make you laugh.I have no clue how much it would cost.
Q: How many miles are too many on a used 1997 pontiac trans am?
I was wondering becuase im looking at buying a 1997 pontiac trans am with 80,000 miles on it for 7 grand. I was wondering at what total milage does it start developing problems? And if they would be simply fix it problems or major problems. Also about how many miles until it becomes a burden with repairs and wouldnt pay to have the car anymore because of alot of repair costs.
A: It almost totally depends on how it was driven and cared for by its previous owner(s). If it is a car known by its racy image, often it has been used and abused, so unless “Grandpa and Grandma” owned it since it was new, you may be buying a lot of problems. Get a very experienced, reputable mechanic to check it out thoroughly before you possibly wind up with a very large headache.
Q: How much would you pay for a 74 Trans Am? It needs good amount work and a engine.?
How much would you pay for a 74 Trans Am? It needs good amount work and a engine.
do yall think $900 would be good?
A: It depends on the condition of the body and interior. Someone may want it as a parts car. $900 may be too much though if it needs a lot of work. You may get about half of that.
