Q: What is the biggest engine that will fit in my 1969 mustang?
I have a 1969 ford mustang with a v6 in it. I want to possibly fit a big block v8 in it. What is the biggest displacement that will comfortably fit in my engine bay? Thanks

A: Ford never put a V-6 engine in a 69 Mustang, so I assume you’re talking about a straight 6. Anything up to a 460 will fit, but I wouldn’t go more than a 351W in that car. The 351W will be easy to work on in that engine bay. And it doesn’t weigh so much the car ends up front end heavy and plowing. Plus you can get kits that will turn any 351W into a 427, that way you get the power of the big block without the weight and size penalty. Remember, with any V-8 swap the front suspension and rear end will have to be completely redone to V-8 specs. That 6 cylinder parts just won’t handle the power and weight of the V-8.
Having a V-8 parts car to get the entire front suspension and rear end from would be a very good idea, that stuff is not cheap one part at a time. Good Luck!

Q: pictures of 1969 Mustang engine and drive train?
Were can I find good pictures of a 1969 351W and 4 speed toploader? I need to have a few different photos too look at as it sits in a Mustang. I’ve been looking all over the internet, but can’t find the views I need. I need to see how the equalizer bar and all the springs hook up, and how the throttle rod bolts up correctly.

A: you might find it in the albums in this group, or ask the members if one of them will upload what you need..

Q: How much will it cost to rebuild a 1967 or 1969 mustang?
I have the mustang but more or less everything is broken or in bad condition exept the body, i wish to build more or less everything exept the body, it doesnt matter what kind of engine it is, but prefereably something good.
Its a fastback

A: Are you talking just a new motor or a ground up restoration?
Rebuild a motor = about $1000. About $3000 for a new crate engine.
Ground up?
$20K +, and that’s if you do most of the work yourself.

Go to www.yearone.com and get a catalog.

Q: Is this a good price for 1969 Mustang shell?
How much do 1969 mustang shells run for.
My guess is 2k

A: $1000 for a coupe and $7000 for a sportsroof (fastback)..

Q: How much does a 1969 Mustang GT cost?
I need to know how much a ‘69 Mustang GT cost for a class project. If anyone could tell me that would be sooooo awesome.

A: you’re looking at $10 grand for a project car..

Q: How do you switch the ignition on a 1969 mustang coupe?
The original key was lost and I have bought a new ignition with new keys to switch it with. Thanks.
Is there wiring involved? Can I just pop the old one out and put in the new one?
Yeah the ignition is on the right hand side kinda in the dash. Alright thanks alot. What would you unscress the bezzle with? Your fingers? Thanks a lot.

A: If you can’t turn the bezel, try reaching from behind and wiggling the switch while holding the bezel with rubber tipped cloves. There are wires on the back that have to be unplugged.

Q: How much is a red convertible 1969 mustang worth?
Somebody has offered me this car for my 16th birthday. I want to know around how much it is worth and if it is even a good car? Its in pretty good shape.

A: $10 to 20k..depending on condition, mileage and options..

Q: What is the difference between a 1970 and a 1969 mustang?
I know that these 2 belong under the 1st generation but does that mean that they are different in any way? or does the year just mean when the car was made.

A: The biggest difference is that the ‘69 had 4 headlights. In ‘70 they eliminated the outermost lights and replaced them with vents.

Q: Is this 1969 mustang coupe a good price for the condition its in?
http://mustangonlyone.com/PageSlideShow/201_1969CoupeArt_002.php
I’m not planning on restoring it, just to drive around.

A: in that condition it’s cheap for MN
since we are in the rust belt
it all depends where you are located
southern states might be considered avg

Q: Is a 1969 mustang a dangrous car to drive?
My parents saw a news article that said all classic mustangs we’re metal death traps, and are vary dangerous. I’m hoping to prove my parents wrong and hit the road with a shiny new 69 mustang fastback :]

A: ONLY if it has a big block and you have a big foot !

Q: How do I take off a rear shock on a 1969 mustang?
Is there an access plate somewhere in the trunk to gain access to the top of the REAR shock or what? :(

A: Remove the rear seat and you’ll find a couple of rubber plugs that give you access to the shocks.

Q: How do I take off a REAR SHOCK in a 1969 mustang?
Is there an access plate somewhere in the trunk to gain access to the top of the REAR shock or what? :(

A: My ‘68 had a couple of plastic plugs on top of the axle tunnel to get at the top “pin” bolt. I’d guess the ‘69 would be the same. The challenge is holding the shock body/piston cylinder while you undo the nut(s)There’s a couple of small flats above the threads where you can put a small wrench, but that makes using a socket a challenge. I had someone underneath hold the dust shield or used a vice grips to clamp the cylinder. Good luck.

Q: Which is better a 1969 Dodge Charger or 1969 Mustang?
Judgeing on horsepower, engine and looks which would you rather have? Don’t take into account that the Charger cost alot more these days.

A: I think by far it is the Charger, just look at the body lines the best looking muscle car of the late 60/s. The engines made lots of power and are just designed better than the Fords. The Charger has i bet more people look at it at a stoplight than a Mustang will ever have.

Q: How can I get a free 1967-1969 mustang project car?
Maybe nobody wants it around anymore or something like that. Im in Chicago by the way.

A: my friend has one and wants to get rid of it where in chicago in beverly???

Q: What is the proper thermstat for a 1969 Mustang 302v8?
I think i put the wrong degree thermostat in. The coolant boils and flows into the resevoir. Thanks John

A: That’s normal, hence the resevoir.

If you want to minimize this, you may want to put a higher pressure radiator cap on the car. This will allow the water to get a little hotter before in starts to leak out.

You do want to make sure you have a clean radiator, flushing it doesn’t always do the job. Take it to a radiator shop and have it fully checked out — you may need to have it rodded to clean out the junk flushing can’t do.
