Q: Nissan Gtr?
ok me and my girlfriend and mom landed in Tennessee around nashville for my gf’s cousins graduation and we got picked up from the airport by her aunt and as we were riding to their house my girlfriend says “oo hey thats a pretty car” and i looked over and it was a silver nissan gtr i almost S*** a brick i was hanging out the window trying to take pics and i still have 3 on my phone…but i thought the gtr wasnt supposed to hit the streets for a few more months? any ideas? a test drive maybe?

A: There are a few GT-R’s roaming around these are ones that have been imported before Nissan have released them worldwide although what they are saying is they will not allow and Nissan workers to do repairs to these cars.

Also there are some prototypes which have been used for track and other test and which have been left behind.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SB4glsQhi3Q
one in Cal.

Q: Nissan GTR….?
What are your thoughts on the soon to be imported Nissan GTR?

A: In the history of japanese car evolution, Nissan produced 2 excelllent car 1) The GTR / Skyline 2) The Altima (Cefiro in asia).
The look of the GTR is actually suitable for mid age taste. In asia, those who can affort a GTR is consider an upper class society. Because not everyone over here can affort a Bimmer, Merc or Lambo. Therefore Nissan easily grab this niche market fast and produced R32, R33 & R34 and have a huge demand for it.
Most asian who drive the R34 are around mid thirties who wants to have real HP & without the overkill look compare to the Toyota Supra which is relatively similar to the GTR.
We in asia here has enjoyed the R34 for number of years now (around +- 8 years) & not to mention those drift junkies who know this car at the back of their fingers.
The R34 is another icon for us beside the Toyota AE86 since the mid eighties. Owning one of these is just like having a 1969 Cobra in America.
Hope you get the idea !

Q: Nissan gtr?
Ok i just graduated and im 17 my dad is going to buy me a car!, but i heard the nissan 2009 gtr was supposed to come out this year in the us? so can someone tell me when will it be out?….
its between this car or a 2005 infinity g35 thanks!.

A: Are you serious? So it’s between a used $17K luxury sedan vs. an $80K supercar(which will be marked up to $150K for a few months)? Anyways, if you’re not on the waiting list you aren’t getting one for a while.

Q: How much is a 2009 Nissan GTR and where/which companies currently import it to Singapore?
How much is a 2009 Nissan GTR in Singapore and where can it be found/which companies currently import it to Singapore?

And also are there any parallel importers for it?

A: there about $70,000 i believe as of the inport question i dont know

Q: How much would it cost to make a 2009 Nissan GTR a 1000HP?
How much would it cost to make a 2009 Nissan GTR a 1000HP?
Also would it make it 0 to 60 in 2.4 seconds?

A: This does happen Henessey or however you spell it sells upgraded kits i think they take the car and upgrade it and have different stages and know one of them is 1000hp so it is very achievable, plus you will most def beat the gtr v-spec and have spent less than buying it. check the website i posted its 800hp

Q: How much would it cost to tune a 2009 Nissan GTR to go 0 to 60 in under 3 seconds?
How much would it cost to tune a 2009 Nissan GTR to go 0 to 60 in under 3 seconds? Right now it takes 3.6 seconds.
Okay then how much would it cost to make it go to 0-60 in under 3 seconds?

A: Just how many cars do you think can out run a GT-R? a Modified Subaru or EVO may get a jump on the GT-R but those cars would never be as nice to drive or last as long. GT-R have data recorders that Nissan Technicians can download if the GT-R owner starts changing boost and making changes. Nissan will promptly void the warranty if the technician can prove the modification lead to a part failure.

Q: How much would The 2008 Nissan GTR cost in Australia?
Im thinking of buying one and getting rid of my Mazda RX7
What are the Transmissions in the Nissan GTR?
And what Should i get inline 6
inline 4
V8?
Are Nissan going to stop making them in 2009?

A: bro there’ only one version of GTR and that’s the twin turbo i6.

and all GTR has DSG/SMG tranmission, which is twin clutches aka F! clutch.

you also excellent taste. This is like a baby veyron.

0-60 3.5

not sure how much it will costs in down under, but it’s also 70k in the state, and that’s not including dealer markup.

also nissan is making only 1000 of these per month so the supply will be tight.

sorry i just look it up, it’s twin turbo v6 NOT I6.

since NIssan spent tons of money on making the car, they will continue making it for couple of years.

at least to cover ROI.

Q: what is the maximum horsepower a nissan GTR V6 engine can have?
I was wanting to know what the maximum horsepower a Nissan GTR V6 engine can have? Anything goes w/ or w/o supercharger or w/ or w/o turbo charger. Thanks for the help I dont want info on the V8.

A: Two problems with the VR38DETT: It’s a fairly small displacement engine, and it’s an aluminum block. Not a good combination if you’re looking for 4 digit horsepower.

The old RB series inline six was also small displacement, but it could make a lot of horsepower just by boosting the hell out of it, since it had a heavy iron block that could handle high levels of boost….50 psi and higher.

Some other aluminum engines, such as Chevrolet LS-series V8s, can produce over 1,000 horsepower out of an aluminum block, but that’s because they are high displacement engines of between 5.7 and 7 liters. Therefore, they require less boost to achieve that level of horsepower….as in about 15-20 psi.

I’m going to go out on a limb and say that the VR38 might be able to achieve 800-900 horspower eventually, but I don’t ever expect it to break 4 digits. Then again, I could be proven wrong….

Q: How much would it cost to make a 2009 Nissan GTR go 0 to 60 in under 3 seconds?
How much would it cost to make a 2009 Nissan GTR go 0 to 60 in under 3 seconds? What will i need?

A: There are new tuning parts out there for this car with the manifold and exhaust setup as well as other tuning parts best bet is to contact firms like topsecret in Japan whom tune thee cars and you know you are contacting a well known company.

Q: Who is the top Nissan Skyline GTR tuner in the world?
HKS, Top Secret, Amuse, AMS, Tommy Kiara…? I’m asking because I plan to purchase the new Nissan GTR and tune it for maximum track/autocross performance. Who would you recommend?

A: mines have been modding the new GT-R .

Iam sure the other companies are on the build also and they have a good name for themselves also. And dont forget about Nismo.and Trial.
http://www.topsecretjpn.com/gallery.shtml
No mention on there yet,Top secret are more famous to me for there skyline work although they did make a supra with a skyline engine.

Q: How much would it cost to put a nicer wing on the 2009 Nissan GTR?
How much would it cost to put a nicer wing on the 2009 Nissan GTR?

A: There is a new movable wing out there for the GT-R but i have no prices, other than that you could add a universal one,the it is just taking it to a body shop to get it fitted and patched up.

Q: Does anyone have tuning for a nissan gtr r35 in speed mode?
Does anyone have tuning for a nissan gtr r35 in speed mode?
I’m talking in Need for Speed Prostreet. so do you have any tuning tips?

A: O of course, since most people can afford a GTR

Q: How much will a 2009 Nissan GTR be in 2012?
How much will a 2009 Nissan GTR be in 2012? Also how much would it cost to tune it to become a 1000HP and safe?

A: It would depend entirely on the mileage and condition of the vehicle three years in the future, which I won’t even try to predict. The only thing that can be said with certainty is it will be worth less than now, since vehicles depreciate for the most part.

As to costs to modify the vehicle, another complete unknown.

Q: How much would it cost to buy a 2009 Nissan GTR in 2012 and also upgrade it to a 1000HP and still be safe?
How much would it cost to buy a 2009 Nissan GTR in 2012 and also upgrade it to a 1000HP and still be safe?
Also would it be able to make 0-60 in 2.6 seconds?
Also could I make it to a 1000HP with $30,000 and be safe?

A: You should also consider that such a car may be expensive to insure. Check your insurance rates before buying one, for example here – carinsurance.yoll.net

Q: How much to make a 2009 nissan GTR 1000 HP and also be safe?
How much to make a 2009 nissan GTR 1000 HP and also be safe?
Would i need to rebuild the engine or could i put a turbo charger on it?
How much will it cost?
Guys just tell me the price please i just want this car? thanks

A: First off, the car is $100,000 off the lot, and it makes about 400 wheel hp right now. A few companies have done work on these and some have reached the 700 whp mark, BUT after about another $40,000-$60,000 in upgrades. Remember once you hit a certain level of power, other things need to be addressed, such as the braking system, clutch, transmission, traction, and safety. If you want a 1000 HP GTR you will spend roughly another $300,000 in doing so and making it safe.

Q: is a1997 toyota camry transmission the same as 1996 camry?
I need to know if 1997 toyota camry le transmission is the same as the 1996 toyota camry le

A: basically is, yeah

Q: Does anyone know how I would find out how much tags will be for a 1996 Toyota Camry in the state of Colorado?
Does anyone know how I would find out how much tags will be for a 1996 Toyota Camry in the state of Colorado, OR know how much it will be themselves? I live in Arapahoe county if that makes any difference.

A: Go to www.mv.state.co.us

Q: 1996 toyota camry with shortage problem?
i have 1996 toyota camry,on my camry everytime i turn the ac my ac fuse keep blowing than i put another compressor in it still doing the same thing.i put a 40 size fuse in it it hasnt blown yet but i know its not right put wron size fuse..what do you think i should do???

i think there is a shortage

A: Take out the oversized fuse!!! By doing this you risk further damage, in the worst case a fire. You probably have a short circuit or perhaps a faulty connection. Short circuits are not easy to find, I suggest you talk to your mechanic – probably the one that replaced your compressor since that did not solve the problem.

Q: Where can i get custom tail lights for 1996 toyota camry?
im planning on painting my 96 camry black and i need some tailights that will match the black color. please help i have been looking all over for them but i cant find any besides the stock kind.

A: you can get the smoke lights…..maybe you can start there….

how much you going to spend on your paint job…i have a 92 camry and iam looking to get it painted….it doesnt really need it..but its fixed up and there are a few rust spots i want to get fixed up…

Q: 1996 toyota camry airbag warning light on?
my camry car airbag warning light on is there any switch to off ? or how resolve this problem ?
Thanks for the responses. Before I take to mechanic is there any thing i can resolve it ?

A: Hi Kumar:
On most vehicles, the airbag light should come on for @6 seconds, and then go off if the system is working properly. If there is a fault or a problem in the system, the light will remain illuminated, or flash continuously. If the airbag light does not work properly, some vehicles have an audible tone that sounds indicating a problem with the airbag light system. When the light is on (or the tone is sounding), the airbag will NOT deploy, even in an accident. This website gives you the procedure for diagnosing and resetting airbag lights on the …scanlist.aspx page listed below.

The flashing light on your car is telling there is a problem. On some vehicles, the light is flashing a two digit code. Your vehicle will NOT require a scan tool for the proper diagnosis. Here’s a site that will explain everything you need to know about airbag lights and resetting the system. Once you know the code, you can most likely repair it yourself. There are fairly easy procedures that most people are capable of repairing.
Airbagsolutions.com has the fault code charts to tell you what is wrong! Although it’s a pay site ($14.95/day), it’s a lot cheaper than going to the dealer.

Some vehicle manufacturers accommodate systems without a scanner (like Toyota, Lexus, Nissan, Infinity, Honda, Acura, Ford, Lincoln, Mazda & Mercury) . Most all other vehicles require a scan tool for the diagnosis. Here is a link to the list of vehicle and scanner requirements.
Check out these websites also for more info on airbag systems and the light.
Lastly, check your vehicle for recalls through this link.

Q: 1996 toyota camry front tires uneven wear problem?
Today, Iwas getting an oil change at the local toyota dealership, and while speaking with the tech. I noticed that my passenger side tire, is wearing down fater the the drivers side in the front, what could this be?, I ahve front wheel drive, its not the alignment, the whole tire in the front passenger side has a significant amount of more wear than the drivers side? Any suggestions?

A: just because its front wheel drive doesn’t mean it can’t be out of alignment. You still have to align it. On todays cars you can align all four wheels.
Low air pressure can also cause a tire to wear quickly. Lower control arm bushings can be bad or possibly a ball joint could cause it.

Q: My 1996 toyota camry may have bad catalytic converter or oxygen sensor?
My check engine light has been coming on in my Camry> my car has 120k miles on it. I just bought it recently last month. Car was well maintained and my mechanic looked at the engine said it was in good shape. Anyway, I had a Sears mechanic plug a device up to the engine to see where the problem is occuring. He says its either the catalytic converter or the oxygen 2 sensor. Catalytic converters are expensive! $1500! They told me not to worry about it because they said the engine runs and sounds great! They were surprised on how well the engine sounded. They also told me to leave it alone. They said if it is oxygen sensor then it wont harm the engine but your engine light will stay on. Which annoys me. Does anyone have any expert advice here? There are no funny smells, no rattling, no white or black smoke coming out of exhaust,no stalling…car runs very good. It does vibrate a little at intersections. Do you think its the catalytic converter? I need an expert opinion.

A: That mechanic is an idiot. You can get a generic O2 sensor for $40 http://www.autozone.com/R,APP233743/vehicleId,2145801/initialAction,partProductDetail/store,1108/partType,00117/shopping/partProductDetail.htm
And a Catalytic converter for $85. http://www.autozone.com/R,APP117982/vehicleId,2145801/initialAction,partProductDetail/store,1108/partType,00071/shopping/partProductDetail.htm
That car is at the age where you’d expect those two things to need replacing.
You might see if Midas will give you a good price.
Those links are for the 4 cylider. If you have a 6, it’ll be slightly different.

Q: Will 5×120 wheels fit on a 1996 Toyota Camry?
I’m getting a good deal on this set of wheels and tires from a friend and I am wondering if they will fit a Toyota Camry. They are 19″ Rial Nogaro which came off a 2001 BMW 325Ci.

A: Most Japanese are 5×114.3
http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&rlz=1T4SKPB_enMU311MU312&q=camry+rims+1996+5x
Adapters are available.

http://www.gearworksmfg.com/accessories/billetwheeladapters.html

Q: How long will my 1996 Toyota Camry last?
It has about 60k mileage on it and I plan on having a road trip across America soon. So how long would it start getting old? 200k? 300k?

A: Dude I own a 1996 Toyota Camry. Awesome car. My Camry has 240,000 miles on it. I commute often out of state. No problems. I drive it daily. I trust this car with my life. I have seen 2004 model cars dead on the road…but this 1996 Camry just keeps going.

The last guy gave you lots of good general car info.

I will offer some personal experience and opinions. Change the timming belt ASAP….I mean it. It will go around 65-75,000 miles. I do not know why. But mine did. And so did many other camry of that year. After that don’t worry about it.

Believe it or not I am still on my original starter, AND alternator. If your car does not have a high power stereo; then your alternator should last you as long as mine…

The brakes should be done regardless. I found that ceramic brake pads work well. I have had them on my car for over 5 years. drum shoes, use any brand that match OEM specs.

In terms of transmission fluid. The 1996 year is when they introduced fuzzy logic…meaning the tranny learns your driving style. You should service it at recommended intervals.

The OIL is the key to long life. Take it from me. I use Mobile One Synthetic and I use premium oil filters. I realized that Toyota filters are constructed differently from generic filters. So I use premium filters from Fram…the Extended Guard or higher.

The Camry runs very well on Synthetic Oil. I revs smooth and delievers good gas milage.

You may not want to do this but I use 93 octane gas. This model year Camry was not inteded to run on 10% ethonol. It is only set to run 5% at most. Check your owner’s manual.

I realized that the car began running bad when they changed gas to 10%. When I ran 87 octane with 10% ethonol, I began to get bad gas milage and less power. 89 only helped a little bit. 93 octane actually restored the performance and gas milage….and gave it more power than before….Remember I did not want to do this.. But rather had to to keep the car running well.

I also use Iridium Spark Plugs. I found that Camry to run amazingly better with these plugs. Well worth it.

The throttle body can be cleaned if you want to. But if it looks clean and the car is idleing well no need to do that.

The exhaust system is stainless steel. It will last longer than the body…I live in WI salt etc. Original exhaust. Don’t let anyone shop dupe you into having there non stainless steel system welded into place.

If the struts go out then replace them with KYB gas struts…they match and exceed OEM standards.

In terms of tires…DO NOT BUY FROM WAL MART. Wal Mart gets the generic run of tires. Even from Michellin and Good Year. Those companies seem to sell cheaper versions of their tires there…Wal Mart only model tires…they do not last as long and they do not perform as well…lots of road noise, slippery when wet…etc.

I gave wal mart 3 trys…. NO more. Even with the warranty…all they said was well you wore them out…But i didn”t they wore out before the promised milage…plus they performed poorly.

I have found over many trial and error tires that you cannot go cheap on tires…they affect the performance of your car more than anything else…braking accerlation, mpg…road noise. etc…Don’t go Wal Mart.

I found the best tires for this car seem to be Pirelli Tires…Especially the P4 all season which is what I have my Camry now…Amazingly worth it. Super quiet…sticky on dry roads, and no hydroplanning in the rain…good snow traction too. plus 80,000 mile warranty. I got them at tires plus. Same if not better warranty as Wal Mart…but better tires and real service shop.

Have fun on your trip…but change that timming belt before you go…

Q: How do i get the stereo out of a 1996 toyota camry?
Only one channel is working in the car Stereo and I want to know how to fix this, I assumed i would have to get the stereo head unit out so I can get behind it to the wiring and fix it that way instead of buying a new unit, the car has done 320000km (200000miles) so i don’t want to spend much money, can someone help?

A: When you say only one channel, do you mean only one channel comes in on it? If so checking to see if the antenna is still connected would help, you ned to remove the black plastic bracket around it first and then remove the 4 screws around the unit, pull gently to remove.

Q: How much should a wiring job cost on a 1996 Toyota Camry??
My radio, cig lighter, clock, and side mirrors dont work anymore. It isn’t a fuse problem, it is definately a wiring issue. I’m really not good with cars so I don’t see what the point of me getting Haynes or Chilton guide would be. How much should a job like this cost, ball park estimates are fine.

I’ve been driving around for 6 months with no radio and about to go out of my mind.

A: A reputable auto electric shop will do the diagnosis first (you set the cap on the price for that) and tell you what the problem is and your options for fixing it, along with their prices. Since no one knows what the problem is yet, anyone who says “it will cost ____” is pumping you full of either smoke or sunshine. A high guess benefits them; a low guess benefits you short term, and them long-term, as you are then more-or-less committed to having them fix the vehicle.
If I had to guess, I would look at your CIG/RADIO 15 amp fuse in junction block number 1, left of instrument panel. It is the thing that all of those accessories have in common. If the fuse repeatedly blows, you likely have a problem with one of those items you mentioned – like junk stuck in your lighter socket or a deformed lighter socket causing a short, or perhaps a faulty installation of an aftermarket stereo. If the fuse is good, but no power is being delivered, suspect your ignition switch; there is a dedicated circuit from the switch that feeds those things you mentioned, plus one of the airbag sensors.

Q: How do you re-adjust headlights on 1996 Toyota Camry sedan?
They need to be adjusted so as to give better view of Road.

A: Lift the hood (bonnet) and see a plastic screw just on the top of the headlight, this will adjust it up and down, but first park your car against a dark wall, with the lights on, about 2ft away check the height and level them to suit your need.

Q: How do I replace the third break light on my 1996 Toyota Camry?
This is the break light on top of the trunk. I see screws close to it inside the trunk but don”t think those are the right ones.

A: Yeah, in your 1996 Camry, the high-mount brake light housing cover isn’t screwed or bolted down. The plastic cover is clipped in place using only friction, so you need to carefully pry it vertically upward (and it can help to use your free hand to press against the slightly-flexible cover, while prying, in order to help free it), so that you can detach it and access the bulb holder.

After the bulb change, everything just clips back into place.

Q: How much should i sell my 1996 toyota camry for?
there is nothing wrong with it. I just want to sell it and buy a new car… Im a student.

A: go to kbb.com (kelly blue book) it will give you the average price for your vehicle, and you can go from there.

Q: how could i change 1996 Toyota Camry oil pan?
I have a 1996 Toyota Camry 4 cyl with oil leaking from oil pan seal and oil pan rust. So, How could I remove the oil pan? how could I clean the old seal out? which one is the best way by using oil pan gasket or liquid sealant or using both( apply liquid sealant on the top of gasket)?
which oil pan’s brand should I choose? SPECTRA PREMIUM, DORMAN, TOYOTA GINUINE PART.

I am very thank for anyone could answer my questions.

Thank again

A: All you have to do is: Remove all bolts holding it on after you drain the oil from it…I don’t use no kind of gasket sealer on oil pans…Only around the front and rear seals of it,I clean both areas with denatured alcohol before installing.Use the Fram brand rubber gasket set with the metal inserts in it for the best seal.

For more information about plymouth furyvisit your top automotive resource CarThrottle.com

Q: What color should I paint my 1972 Plymouth Fury III?
I have a 1972 Plymouth Fury III hardtop coupe with a 318 V8 that I need to paint. I want it to look vibrant and I want it to have a cool paint scheme or decals (like the 1969 GTO Judge). What color(s) should I paint it and what decals/scheme should I use? I also want to name it (again, like the ‘69 Judge) and paint the name on it. What name should I give it?

A: Bright blue with silver stripes/graphics. As far as a name goes, it’s your car…you know what her name should be.

Q: My carberator for my plymouth fury is busted, where can I find a new one cheap in california?
the car is a plymouth fury 3 commando and i have the vid for it

A: There are tons of pick and pull junk yards in California, I could make some suggestions if I knew where in California since its such a big state.

Q: will the molding fit for a 2door plymouth fury 3 coupe 1968?
i have a Plymouth fury 3 1968 coupe with the original aluminum moldings. i found a molding set online for a 4 door Plymouth fury. same exact car just the differences are the 2 dr and 4 dr. Will the molding fit on a 2dr if its sold as a 4dr set? (the only piece i need is the front passenger side molding.

A: Nope ,they are different!!!

Q: How to remove a 1973 Plymouth Fury III fuel tank?
I have the two strap-bolts loosened, and the tank supported. However, before I unhook the bolts from the slots, I need advice about ALL the fuel lines fastened to the tank. I see a MANIFOLD-like junction point with four fuel lines, ( upper – center – forward section of the tank ) , as well as the other two main lines mounted to the tank. What is the deal with these “Extra lines” mounted to the tank? I know about disconnecting the fill tube also, but these four lines have me flummoxed. Any help in this regard will be greatly appreciated.

A: The lines are your fuel return and evap lines, so, just carefully remove them, tag them for reinstall and your set

Q: Need advise on changing motor mounts on a 1965 plymouth fury II?
It looks like the motor mounts will be easy to get to, but I have never changed motor mounts before. I have access to a drive on lift, and pretty much all the tools to do it. What do I need to do to lift the motor up, and how should I do it.

A: Just don’t try to jack the engine up by the oil pan, this is not strong enough to use. Find a different sturdier spot on the engine to jack it up just enough to take the tension off of the motor mounts. If you have access to a drive on lift (a dandy piece of equipment, no doubt, but useless in this case) perhaps that person has an engine hoist also. This would be the safest way to lift the engine an inch or so. If not, you’re kinda stuck with rigging something up with a floor jack.

Q: How fast could a 1958 Plymouth Fury stop?
I’m doing a science project, and I haven’t been able to find the answer anywhere.

A: From 30 MPH: 48 feet.
From 60 MPH: 173 feet.
From 100 MPH: 272 feet.

Last figure is PERSONAL experience! All those cars had 4 wheel DRUM brakes; discs were NOT even an option in 1958! (Although you can put the 1969 to 1972 “B”-body disc brakes on them!) And even though they qualify as, “land yachts”, they actually are not that heavy! Retrofit a 440 into one, and you have a real, “street sleeper”!

Q: Where can I find parts for a four door 1967 Plymouth Fury III?
What I mainly need is a rear bumper, Grille, and trunk lid. I traded a mini chopper for this old project this weekend and while the most of the body is in good condition it still needs some parts. A used parts source would be fine. The motor is a 318.

Thanks for your help.

A: check this guy out he has a lot of parts and cars for sale i bought a front end off him for a 66 fury last year,he,s a good person to deal with, and if he don’t have it he will find it or you, good luck.http://www.partstrain.com/ShopByVehicle/DODGE ,,here,s another one that’s good to deal with,http://drmopar.com/

Q: Engine in the 1958 Plymouth Fury used in the movie 1983 movie Christine?
Basically what the title is. Every time I try to look it up on Wikipedia or Google, it freezes. All other websites work, but those two are locking my laptop out of them for some stupid reason. So what was the engine size? Thanks.

A: 318, 350 or 361 CID

Q: Is the 1958 Plymouth Fury a bad taste in a cars?
Well i think it is pretty rare to find and they made a movie on it called Christine. If you look at christine the car from the stephen king movie; it is really a killer.

A: The ‘58 Fury is an awesome car, but they’re pretty rare, expensive and it’s extremely hard to find parts for them. If you really want one, look into the 1957-58 Plymouth Belvedere. Just about every one of Plymouth’s models from 1957-58 looked exactly the same except for a different roofline. Belevederes are a lot cheaper than your average Fury, and unlike the Fury, they actually made them in red.

If you want to see a car that really looks like a killer, look up the ‘59 Dodge Coronet.

Q: Where can I get motor mounts for a 1965 Plymouth fury III 4D sedan with a 318 engine?
My car is shaking like a leaf !

A: A search of Autozones on line catalog shows motor mounts are still available, probably still avail from many parts suppliers in your area, Around $10 each.

Q: I am trying to find a power brake conversion kit for a 1966 plymouth fury 1, can yoiu help?
I have drum brakes on it and I am in wheelchair and have to have power brakes. I don’t want to take the drums off just convert them. Tks

A: The power drum brakes really don,t work all that well…I had power drums on my car and went to disc…Power disc is the only way to go…I bought my disc brake conversion for my 67 gtx off of ebay…It was about 800.00 bucks…You need to pick up a copy of Mopar Muscle magizine…They have 4 or 5 companys that offer conversions…A good company that will have what you need is Street Rod Manufactering…Their web address is www.tsmmfg.com.Their phone number is 303-688-6882.The have a large secltion of conversions…They even have one for your 8 3/4 rearend….
MOPARS RULE!!!!

Q: 71 Plymouth Fury with 318 has low oil pressure. What is a decent temporary fix?
After 1/2 hour of driving or so, when the motor is fully warmed up, the oil light flickers off and on at idle. There is a tapping sound when this happens.

Putting the car in neutral gets rid of the problem, and the light does not come on during driving.

The motor does not smoke, but it is original so I’m sure the bearings are worn or something to that extent.

Would a heavier weight of a high mileage oil help this problem? Or is there an additive I can put in like Lucas?

A: try cleaning the pick up sump out for the oil pump and see if that helps it,when they get stopped up they,ll do this once they get warmed up,you can also replace the oil pump while your at it and that may fix it,or you may need to do a lower end rebuild on it there no real quick fix for it though, good luck.

A: a thicker oil will help a little , but it sounds like it’s rebuild time , the 318 was a real good engine , but they dont last forever sorry.

Q: Where can I buy a 1958 Plymouth Fury?
Where can I buy this car and how much do they cost?

A: If I wanted a Plymouth Fury 1958 I would do two things I would keep a careful watch on E-bay and secondly I would take out an add in the local news paper. I am sure that if you find one it will range from a few dollars as junk all the way up to many thousands of dollars. The better the condition the more that it will cost you.

Note; not trying to be a butt but I am 62 years old and remember the Car well we never thought of it as a family car

Q: is it possible to put a hitch on a 1967 plymouth fury?
i m looking to tow a motorcycle with this car. it will be an open trailer, 10 feet long at the most, and i’m only gonna haul motorcycles.

A: Absolutely! Try reesehitch.com and see if there’s an application that works. You may have to measure from the outside of one frame rail to the outside of the other frame rail and call with the measurements and they will send you to the closest reese hitch retail dealer. GOOD LUCK!!!

Q: 1977 Camaro?
I am almost 16 years old and I want to buy my first car. The car I want to buy is the 1977 Chevrolet Camaro, as seen in TRANSFORMERS (the first car that Sam Witwicky, the main character, get). Does anybody know the perfect place to buy one for a cheap price but in fairly perfect condition? PLEASE, I HAVE SCAVANGED ALL OVER THE INTERNET SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME!!!

A: Have you checked on www.craigslist.com in your area?

Q: 1977 camaro?
can someone please list all the standard features on the 77 camaro? thanks so much

A: www.nastyz28.com there you will find all your answers

Q: How much would be fair to get AC installed on a 1977 Camaro?
Hi guys i was wondering around how much would be a fair price to have A/C installed on a 1977 camaro that used to have A/C but no longer has it.

Thanks,

J.

A: It depends. Are there any pieces left? Dryer is 50 bucks or more….condensor is over 100….evaporator is over 100….compressor is a few hundred….then the lines. Go to a junkyard and get your parts off of an olds delta or another GM sedan. Good luck.

Q: Wanting to know if there is someone interested in a 1977 Chevy Camaro?
My husband is selling a 1977 Rally Sport Camaro. In execellent condition. I thought I would see if there is anyone interested in this type of car and would like to purchase his vehicle. It is listed on Ebay, so if anyone is interested, please let me know so I can tell you what car to look for on Ebay.

A: i maybe interested pending on the specs and price

Q: How many miles per gallon do you get with a 1977 Camaro?
How many do you get and is there any way I can increase it?

A: Bud, it’s a 1977 Camaro. How many people you run around with that has an old Camaro, Mustang, Dodge Challenger/Charger/Monte Carlo, etc, etc.? It already gets ya 15-18 mpg in town AND 21-24 MPG ON THE HIGHWAY,If it is half way decent I’ll trade ya a 1997 Eldorado Caddy that gets 21 mpg in town and 26-28 mpg on the highway

Q: Changing rear end on my 1977 camaro?
Ive recently have bought a 1977 camaro which the guy who sold it had put a 383 stroker (or so he claims) in it but it winds really high and i believe its stuck in first gear but i also believe the gears are to high. It has 4:11 gears on it but i was wondering what is the best gears for top end?

Thank you

A: I own a shop, a drag car & truck, and think this; If its wound out at 55 mph, then it for sure has a very low gear in the rearend. If you wish to get top end speed, then change the rearend to a 2.73:1 ratio, and find a transmission that has overdrive such as a 700R-4 or a 4L60E, and you should see 160 mph without a problem. If the guy told you it had a 383, and it is really up there on the rpm’s at 55 mph, then its probably setup for the drag strip. It sounds like it has maybe a lower gear than a 4.11:1 ratio. Try this; Shift the gears manually. Start off in 1st, and shift it to 2nd, and then to 3rd to see if it shifts. If it does, then its probably just that low geared, and you will have to change the rearend to get it back within a streetable range.
Glad to help out, Good Luck!!!

Q: What is the difference between the 1977 Camaro LT RS and SS?

A: Actually, there wasn’t a SS Camaro in 1977. There were Z28’s, and I believe that there were also LT and maybe RS models. Perhaps the base model was called a SC (sport coupe). I am not an expert, I just like the Camaros.

The Z28 had ground effects and a number of other extras. Some suspension upgrades would have been part of the package. The Z28 was basically similar to what one might call a Camaro SS. But there weren’t any Camaro SS’s built (from that time) until 1996.

There were several engines available. There was the 305 V8, the 350 V8, and also a V6. I don’t know- perhaps the V6 was the 3.8L V6. The Z28 always came from the factory with a V8 engine.

My information may not be correct nor accurate. I am not a collector or specialist, I just like the Camaros very much, and have owned a few of them (mostly third gens).

EDIT:

Here ya go:

http://www.nastyz28.com/camaro/camaro77.php

Q: Does anyone know what the gas mileage is for a 1977 Chevy Camaro?
I tried looking it up on yahoo and google, but nothing came up. All I found was a LOT of “spam”.

A: just fill tank up, write down your mileage, then drive it for awhile, when you fill it up, write mileage; figure out mile driven; then figure out how many miles driven. ie 100 miles driven / 10 gal. used = 10mpg 100/10=10

Q: max rpm to change gear for 1977 camaro?
hi. i have 1977 camaro base with 6l engine fully restored.
its manual with 5 speed gearbox.
i want to know whats the red line to change gear from 1 to 2 ,3 , 4.
whats a good brand for rpm gauge thats works for my car?
many thanks.

A: any tachometer will work on your car, sun brand tachometers are one of the best and summit racing sells them, as far as shifting RPM on your engine I’m not sure but 5,000 RPM is a good guess.

Q: does any one have parts for a camaro 1977? i need the parts?
i have a 1977 camaro and i need bumpers ans seats and interiors please help

A: check junk yards or ebay

Q: How much for a 1977 Chevrolet Camaro (z28)?
My uncle is looking at one of these and doesn’t know what a good price is for it, the one he is looking at has about 27,000 miles and i am assuming it is in running condition. I have spent about 4 hours searching for some info on it and i cannot find much. Please only respond if you have helpful input, on where i can look for pricing or know it yourself.

A: NADA:

Low retail is $6000

High retail is $11,200

Unfortunately the price for cars like this is what the market will bear. I paid $5200 for a Monte Carlo SS Areocoupe and sold it for $13000. Some things are worth more to some people than they are to others.

Q: Is a new carpet kit out of a 1977 trans am the same for a 1973 camaro?
I have a new carpet kit that was made for a 1977 trans am, and im selling the trans am, and bought a 1973 z-28 camaro. Is it the same carpet kit?? will it work for the camaro?? Help would be wonderful!

A: The body style is the same, I don’t see any reason that it wont fit.

Q: Where can I find a mechanic in or around New York, NY for a 1977 Chevy Camaro that needs exhaust repair?
In particular I’m looking for a mechanic thats had a solid track record with old chevy’s and their muffler issues

A: 77 Camaro exhausts are very, very simple. You can source a good system from practically anywhere. If you are looking for something custom, look for a performance shop. I know of a good one about 40 minutes or so outside of the city – in western Passaic County, NJ, but they’d be worth the drive only if you’re going to do something a little more higher end.

Midas did the Magnaflow and cat on my old 79 Camaro a few years back, and they did a fine job.

Q: i cant find a model of a 1977 chevy camaro?
is it possible to get a hot wheels size model of a 1977 chevy camaro

A: Try eBay or use Google to search for diecast sellers.

Q: I want an Air Dam for my 1977 camaro, but Can’t find one anywhere..?
I have a 1977 camaro and want to buy one of those big air dams I see on old camaros, But I can’t find one anywhere for my car, any ideas on where to buy one or how to make one??
the big flat black or chrome air dam I have seen on old camaros! Points out from below front bumper at a downward angle. backwards wing lookin..

A: which air dam??????????????????

Q: My 1969 Corvette–What size aftermarket speakers will fit behind the kick panels–and what would sound best?
I’m going to be using a stock-looking radio that has upgraded/updated circuitry, and I’d like to use the best speakers that will fit the spaces behind the kick-panels in my 1969 Corvette. Is 4×6 the largest that will fit, or something larger? Since it’s just two speakers and I only want to do this once, cost is less of an issue. What would you recommend as the best-sounding modern speakers that would fit? Thank you very much!

A: Give Crutchfeild a call good people. They are you the net.

Q: What is the best way to remove paint from the body of a 1969 Corvette?
We have a 1969 Chevy Corvette and we’re in the process of restoring it. What is the best way to remove paint from the body? It is fiberglass. I’ve heard of people media blasting, sanding, stripping, etc. Whats the best and SAFEST way to remove paint from this fiberglass body? Another quick question, what color is the raw fiberglass on these cars? also if any of you have any pictures of good information that we could use to help us along the way we would really appreciate it.
what about soda blasting?

A: Sanding. Media Blasting since fiberglass is so soft, will totally screw up the surface as the media will not be able to tell the difference between paint and fiberglass. Sanding. Stripping solutions could also mess with the integrity of the fiberglass and give you more problems than you imagined. Also once you get it stripped completely, contact a good body shop that works with fiberglass, or a Corvette shop if there is one in your area. You will need to rework any areas with Spider Cracks, and older fiberglass gets dried out and needs to be reworked before you prime and paint it again. In other words, check with some shops for sure to see what you need to do to restore the life back into the fiberglass.
It is usually white or kind of cream in color. If you have black areas or anything like that, someone has probably patched it with marine materials.
I would suggest finding a Corvette Club near you and contacting them, and you will be surprised at the pointers they can give you, and where they can refer you to find other things. Parts, etc. You might be interested to know that the ‘69 also offered Seven (7) engine options. They were:

Base Engine: 350 cid with 300 horsepower @ 4800 rpm, Rochester four-barrell
Optional Engine #1: [RPO L46] 350 cid with 350 horsepower, , Rochester four-barrell
Optional Engine #2: [RPO L36] 427 cid with 390 horsepower @ 5400 rpm, Holley four-Barrell Carburetor
Optional Engine #3: [RPO L68] 427 cid with 400 horsepower, three Holley two-Barrell Carburetors
Optional Engine #4: [RPO L71] 427 cid with 435 horsepower @ 5800 rpm, three Holley two-Barrell Carburetors
Optional Engine #5: [RPO L88] 427 cid with 560 horsepower @ 6400 rpm, Holley four-Barrell Carburetor
Optional Engine #6: [RPO L89] 427 cid with 435 horsepower, Holley four-Barrell Carburetor
Optional Engine #7: [RPO LZL1] 427 cid with 430 horsepower, Holley four-Barrell Carburetor aluminum manifold

Q: Where are the vin numbers on a 1969 corvette?
I have a 1969 Corvette Stingray left to me in my father’s will. He crashed it and we were supposed to rebuild it together but now I have to myself. I can’t find the Vin’s on it, or the title, so where are vins. This car has no doors, and the vin numbers are NOT:
not on the winshield
not on the door jam
not on the engine
where are the other places they can be?

A: check on the frame …passenger side?

Q: 1969 Corvette–What size aftermarket speakers will fit behind the kick panels–and what would sound best?
I’m going to be using a stock-looking radio that has upgraded/updated circuitry, and I’d like to use the best speakers that will fit the spaces behind the kick-panels in my 1969 Corvette. Is 4×6 the largest that will fit, or something larger? Since it’s just two speakers and I only want to do this once, cost is less of an issue. What would you recommend as the best-sounding modern speakers that would fit? Thank you very much!

A: Front speakers
Dash: 4×6″
Kick Panel: 4×6″

Rear speakers
Rear Deck: 6×9

Those are the sizes. Any aftermarket speakers of htose sizes will do (Pioneer, Alpine, etc.). But since you will be hooking them up inside the trunk and not to an external amp, look for speakers that have an RMS value of 30 or lower (most speakers do not go below 20). If you do not know what I’m talking about, the RMS value is the most watts you should give a speaker for it to play at it’s full potential. You should go to www.crutchfield.com, and look up those size speakers. when shopping, pay attention to how many RMS watts it takes to power a speaker.

Q: Is soda blasting a good way to strip remove the paint on a 1969 Chevy Corvette?
I have a 1969 chevrolet corvette and we are in the process of restoring it. I have been researching different ways to remove the paint that is currently on the fiber glass body. Is soda blasting a good method? If you have any experience with soda blasting, what are the down sides to it? If it is a good method of paint removal, about how much would it cost to get the body soda blasted (everything except the front clip)?

A: Soda blast is a good way because it will not dig into the fiberglass. The only other way is to sand it all down by hand. Not sure of any down sides, never used it before. It will be harder to find someone that does soda blasting, its still kind new. Most places do sandblasting for around $60 to $90 an hour. So it could be expensive.

Q: How do you turn off the flashers in a 1969 corvette if the button is broke in the on position?
I tried removing the flasher unit on the driver side located next to the fuse panel, but my regular turn signals stopped working then as well. I was told the directional turn signals and the flashers ran off to seperate fuses but its seeming like this is not the case, any help would be greatly appreciated.

A: i have had that problem with my gmc jimmy and couldnt fix it at the time so what i did was got a screw and held it down and put the screw down inside it on the corner and tighten it alittle and it stays down and cant use it unless i remove the screw try that

Q: How much should I sell my 1969 Corvette for?
The car has less than 40,000 miles, it has all original parts with matching numbers, it’s automatic and has a new battery.

The paint job is awful, but the car has all papers and has only had one owner.

A: I will take it off your hands for 50$

Check with a classic appraisal expert, as that car restored is worth some major bank, so knowing where to set a price for it has a lot more factors than what you listed here.

Q: how do i know if i have the base 1969 corvette 350 or the L46?
i ran the numbers on the block but all the websites just say “1969 350 300/350 hp”, how can i tell if its the L46?

A: on the firewall copy down the VIN and look it up online that should tell you.

Q: I would like to buy a 1969 Corvette with a bady in a good condition. Could I find one 10 years from now?
NOT pimped, tuned, or customized.
I meant body with “bady”(sorry).

A: What’s a “bady”?

Q: What can I swap from a 2008 Corvette to a 1969 Firebird?
I have in storage a 1969 Firebird, and just recently purchased a 2008 Corvette which was salvaged due to a hit to the side. Everything is in good order other than the passenger door and roof. I would like to take advantage and swap anything possible that might be bolt on.

A: You could swap the whole drivetrain, with some modification.
That would be wicked.

Q: How do I change the power steering fluid in my 1969 Corvette? (350/300 engine)?
I just bought it, and the car is making noise when I steer. Please assume I don’t know 1) where the reservoir is and 2) what type of fluid I should be using.

Thank you very, very much!!

A: The reservoir is part of the pump.

Look on front, driver’s side of engine. Down lower, you will see a thing with a belt on it. Thats your power steering pump. Look on top of the pump and you will see a round cap. Twist it counter clockwise and it will come off.

It has a line on it that says full hot. Pour dextron/mercon auto transmission fluid in it untill the level reachs the full hot mark.

Now the noise could be a loose power steering belt, (just needs tightening) or a worn belt that needs replacing.

Could be low on fluid.

Or alot of chevys will make a noise when you turn the teering full lock (as far one way as you can) then stop once you turn wheel alittle more straight

Q: How much is my 1969 Corvette worth?
It’s all original with matching numbers.
It’s a automatic T-Top.
The paint is bad.
It’s only had one owner and has all original papers.
It has less than 30,000 miles.
The only thing new on it is the battery.

I’m just looking for a general price range.

A: Without a picture, it is hard to tell.
I would guess between $5000 and $15000
Unless you are willing to spend a lot of money on a good paint job, do not paint it to sell it.

Q: If you had a choice between a 1969 Stingray Corvette and a 1971 which one would you choose and why?
I am torn on what year to buy I love both. I have my eye on a couple that I could buy so just wondering.

A: You should also consider that such a car may be expensive to insure. Check your insurance rates before buying one, for example here – carquotes.sinfree.net

Q: why cant i find any E3 spark plugs for my 1969 corvette?
i cant find any anywhere on the internet and my local parts store dont carry them, i can find them for the 7.0L engine but not the 350, does anyone know where i could get some? or maybe even a better spark plug? and not thoose plustar ones, i know those are good but i dont have $200 for 8 lol

A: Man, let me be very up front with you. Those high dollar fancy plugs gives NO, thats zero benifits over a std plug.

I have dyno tested and track tested every plug known to man in the past 10 years. No gains in anything, in fact lost performance with a few brands

Save your money and go with std. AC delco plugs.

I drive a as some people calls it “street driven drag car” daily, I build performance engines. Everything leaves my shop with 1 of 3 brand plugs. AC delco, NGK V power, or autolite. Also same 3 types I use in my own cars

Oh and those plustar plugs, yeah they are good and they do work, but you nor I even with my 505 HP engine would see a single gain. They are based off a NHRA top fuel hemi plug from about 10 years ago or so. They store elec energy to help fire the cyl on the next compression stroke. Ok cool, good, but our engines will burn the air/fuel mixture fully with a std ign. system and plug. You’ll see a gain only if you have 14:1 or more compression and run iut up to 8,000 rpm or more

Q: How much does a 1969 Corvette Stingray goes for?

A: i restore cars for a living, including vettes. the range of prices that this car could be worth are just about endless. if it’s a junker that is in poor shape and has had a lot of modifications, it is basicaly worth whatever you can sell it for as a parts car or it’s pieces on e-bay, (which can still be a fair amount!). if it is original and has it’s papers, good options, the skys the limit, you could be talking several hundred thousand dollars for a pristine original with the right options. or for a good restoration. contact the ncrs (national corvette restoration society) they have a web site and are considered the premier corvette group. they will be able to answer your questions a little better or put you in touch with someone who can. if you don’t want to go to that much trouble, go to your local bookstore that sells magazines and look for “old car price guide” in the auto section and thumb through it, it will give you an idea, just have all the car information ready because they’ll want to know engine size, tranny type, etc., etc.

Q: mustang cobra??????????????????
mustang cobra svt what all would i have to do to a mustang cobra to put a kenne bell supercharger on it but will it hurt the motor and if so wat all would i have to do to it for it not to hurt the motor and is there any way for it not to hurt the motor i dont know much about how superchargers are with maintnance and are they worth it????

A: Nice choice going with the Kenne Bell. They have a few different sizes of superchargers available.

The year model mustang/cobra you have depends on what damages could happen to the motor if you give to much boost or hp increase. For example a newer 4.6l block can handle up to 600 hp w/o major modification, as a 5.0 can not.

As far as the s/c hurting the motor- don’t worry about it b/c the s/c manuf. will offer you what is best for your application. Just remember you’ll need to upgrade some things on the motor when adding a supercharger to get the right performance, such as upgraded: fuel system, intake, MAF, exhaust, etc.
Once your s/c is installed, you’ll need to go to a tuner/dyno shop to tweak the fuel/air mix for optimal perfomance and to deter detonation. More $

Don’t think it’s simple as just bolting one of these on…and that’s not even easy. As far as maintenance goes, they are straight forward and the bearings are kept cool b/c you’ll have an oil feed going to the casings.

Q: Mustang Cobra?
Why do some 03-04 Cobra have the regular pony in the grill, and some Cobra’s have the snake? Is there a difference in performance?

A: Thank you xc220, you are the first person to actualy answer the question that was asked correctly. No offense to some of the people that answered previously because a few of you are my friends and I am not trying to insult you in any way. When they are made at the factory, all 2003 and 2004 cobras had ponies put on the grill. After someone buys the car, the person who bought it has to order a replacement cobra from a speciallty store to put on the grill instead of the pony if thats what they want. So there is no difference in performance or anything else. All 03/04 cobras come from the factory with the pony and you have to buy the cobra yourself and put it on. Trust me on this, I own and know everything about the 03/04 cobras. It is my dream car. I go to all the shows and spend my weekends at the track.

I GARUNTEE YOU EVERYONE IS WRONG EXCEPT FOR ME AND XC220. I love and live for the 03/04 cobras and own one. I know almost everything about them. 100% for sure, without a doubt, would bet my whole familys and my life on it, the infromation I provided above is correct. There is absolutely no question what so ever. It is a fact. The truth. There is no other answer.

Now I should tell you how I REALLY feel, huh? lol

Go to the site I pasted and look at the front grill on the pic of the 2003 cobra. You know its a cobra because for many reasons other then just road and track saying it is, the fog lights (cobras have them, gts do not), the shape of the side view mirrors (much more streamlined on the cobras and 2 tone, much more square on the gts and one solid color), the rims (five star with the svt logo, gt are not 5 star and have no SVT logo), the hood (the two holes which are heat extractors, gts dont have this, they have a non functional hood scoop), the width of the tires (cobra has 275’s, much wider then gt tires), the rear spoiler is flat on the trunk (not raised off the trunk like the gts), the word “cobra” imprinted on the rear bumper (gts have “mustang” imprinted on the rear bumper), the svt badge on the rear of the cobra (gts dont have a SVT badge).

Q: My dad has a 78 Mustang Cobra II that he is trying to get rid of Its almost running what are some good prices?
My Dad has a 1978 Mustang Cobra II that he is trying to sell… He has completley re-done the motor. It has a racing cam in it and only a 5 gallon gas tank so i guess that it is made for raceing. He almost has it finished but is just done messing with it…What are some good prices to put on it…And does anyone know some people that might be interested?

A: they are starting to become collectible (to some people) if they are all original. to get an idea what it might bring check them out on ebay if there is any listed. then figure on getting a little less if you sell locally.

Q: Necessary tools for battery replacement on 97 Mustang Cobra?
Have to change the battery in my mustang. Done it a long time ago but cant remember everything i need.

My question is what are ALL the necessary tools (and sizes please) to change my battery.

Its a 1997 mustang cobra

Reason asking is i have to go home to get the tools and have like 20 min to grab everything i need. I know sounds crazy but its the situation im in.

A: a twelve or thirteen MM wrench for the battery cables and I believe the hold down bolt is a thirteen socket with at least 12 inches of extension to reach it……good luck!!!!

Q: How much does a 1997 Mustang Cobra Engine cost?
I need to know because I want to drop a Cobra engine in my mustang GT. Also what transmission does the 97 Cobra use?
I cant look it up on ebay cause im at school right now

A: They go for around $2500-$4500 depending on year and mileage. The 97 Cobra came with a T-45. The T-45 is also found on all 1996- mid 2001 GTs (manual transmissions of course). If you said what year and what transmission your GT is it would help.

Q: what is the difference between a 99 and 03-04 mustang cobra?
what is the difference between a 99 and 03-04 mustang cobra
i want to get a 99 mustang cobra. but i heard there is some difference between the 99 and 03-04 model. like what is difference like from in side and out, under the hood to behind the from left to right.

A: There was a lot of differences. First I’ll start outside. The front bumper had bigger openings around the fog lights with ducting to cool the front brakes. The hood used an open dual heat extractor style venting. The rear spoiler was flush with the decklid instead of raised like a wing. It came with 17×9″ wheels instead of 17×8s on the 99, and had 275/40-17 tires all around instead of 245/45-17s on the 99. They both had independent rear suspension, but the 03-04 was stiffened with 31 spline axles instead of the 99-01’s 28 spline axles for more strength. The 99 was an all aluminum 6 bolt engine with DOHC heads, 2 cams per head, made 320hp and 317ft-lb stock. The 03-04 was an iron block aluminum DOHC 2 cam per head with an Eaton 112ci supercharger huffing approximately 6psi of boost into the engine to make a rated 390hp and 390ft-lb, but actually makes about 420hp. The 99 Cobra uses either a T-45 or T-3650 5 speed manual trans depending on which half of the production it was in, while the 03-04 has a T-56 6 speed manual transmission. The 99-01 cobra weighed in around 3400lbs coupe, 3550 for convertible, the 03-04 coupe was just under 3700 and the convertible was almost 3900. The interior was a little bit nicer in the 03-04, but otherwise was almost identical, other than better leather and better side support on the seats.

Q: How much will it cost to replace the U-Joints on my 1995 Mustang Cobra SVT?
Ok so i’m about to get a 1995 Mustang Cobra SVT and the guy says that the U-Joints need to be replaced. I did a little research and it said that they will cost around $15-$50. How much will it be if i want them installed by someone?

A: $65.-100 per hour for labor depending on where you live and you will not likely be able to supply your own parts.

Q: where can i get the best price on eaton rear ends for a mustang cobra?
have a 99 mustang cobra and the rear differential needs replaced. The car is stock now but will soon have the engine bored and supercharged. I have read a little about eaton rear ends. thanks alot !

A: go to jeggs or sumitt they have the dheapest prices around

Q: Will a 1995 Mustang GT transmission fit in a 1997 Cobra?
I have a 1995 Mustang GT 5 speed. I also have a 1997 Mustang Cobra SVT that has tranny problems. Can I take the Mustang GT tranny and swap them?

A: The 95 GT used the T-5 and the Cobra used a T-45. It’s probably doable, but it won’t be a direct swap. Some minor fabrication may be needed.

Q: Where can I buy a seat for my 1995 Mustang Cobra SVT?
My husband bought me a 1995 Mustang Cobra SVT and I am wanting to replace the driver seat, the motor or something went out in it. It wont move forward or backwards. Does anyone know where I can buy one at?

A: Doesn’t have to be exactly 95 seats… most any of them will fit.

Q: can i take seats out of a mustang cobra and put them in my camaro z28?
Hi, well my grandma has a totaled Mustang Cobra with really nice leather seats. I was wanting to take them out and put them in my 2000 Camaro Z28. Is this possible? I think the bolt pattern is a quarter of an inch off can you make a new bolt pattern or what do you have to do? And assume the bolt pattern is the same is it possible? Thanks to whoever helps!

A: With alittle fab work you can put just about any seat in just about any car.

Easiest way to do this swap, due to the diff in the floor pans of the two cars is just to swap the seat tracks (mounts)

Take the sliders off both sets of seats, put the camaro tracks on the mustang seats.. You may have to drill a hole or use a pc of metal to make a hole or two line up but nothing too major

Q: what is the horsepower of mustang cobra?
I want to find out the stock horse power of all mustang cobras to date but i can’t find anything.

A: 99 305
2001 320
2003-4 390 (under rated)
the 03-04’s are at around 410 crank

Q: So what is the difference between the 2010 Mustang Cobra and the 2011 Mustang Boss?
My dad bought last spring a 2010 Mustang Cobra. I just want to know the difference on the inside between the two. From the out side, I like the Cobra a bit more. But what’s under the hood, matters the most.

A: One is a snake, the other is in charge.

Q: Can i put a 5.0 mustang cobra gt motor into a 1995 mitsubishi eclipse?
My car broke down so to give it an extra push i eas thinkin of putting a new motor. But i want to put a 5.0 mustang cobra gt engieng in it. Can i do it what modifications will i need to do? Thanks alot.

A: First off they do it in miatas with custom mounts, cross bar and wiring, no you can do it since ford never made a cobra GT! And no because you need to make custom mounts, cut your drive shaft tunnel for the tranny and install a rear end in the car so the long as is no short answer is sell and GST or GSX

Q: I have a 91 mustang cobra lower end knock?
I have a 91 mustang cobra hatchback and it has a lower end knock in it. I was wonder what the estimate is to get it fixed?

A: well you have to find the problem first. then open the engine to see what it really is. then you can get an estimate to fix it.

Q: What movie, made in the 60s, takes place in France, famous actor and actress, a Ford GT40?
I saw this movie a while ago. The movie had a part II, with the same main actor and actress, involving in the first movie a beautiful Ford GT40, which is being tested at a very famous raceway. It was made in the 60s and I can’t remember the plot, exactly. The actor and actress are both very famous and I’m sure it’s a well known movie from the time period.
Thank you very much for your help.

A: A Man and a Woman (1966), he (Jean Louis Tritignant) is a car racer and she (Anouk Aimeé) is a magazine editor; I don’t know what car he races.
A Man nd a Woman: 20 Years Later was released in 1986.

Q: How fast can a 2006 Ford GT40 mustang go? Examples mph (mile per hour on the speedometer)?

A: There is no such thing as a “Mustang GT40″. There is a Mustang GT500 and there is a Ford GT.

The Mustang GT500 and Ford GT both use the same 5.4 liter V8 triton engine used in the F-150 XLT, except they are supercharged for both cars.

The GT500 can top out at about 170-180 mph, which is close to the BMW M3’s top speed of 195 mph.

The Ford GT tops out at 205 mph, faster than the Dodge Viper’s 185, and close to the Lamborghini Gallardo’s 210 mph.

The Ford GT40 from the 1960’s had a top speed of 205 mph, the same as the new Ford GT.

Q: How do you unlock the Ford GT40 race car in gran turismo 3 A-Spec?

A: Complete the applicable races/missions…
Next.

Q: What is the difference between a Ford GT and a Ford GT40?

A: Ford GT is the new iteration of the GT40. The Ford GT has been teched up compared to the Ford GT40 which won lemans 3 years in a row with spots 1,2 and 3 during the 60s. The new Ford GT is powered by a 5.4 liter supercharged engine which produces 550 horspower as well as torque. The reason its not called GT40 is because due to windtunnel testing the height has increased to 44 inches instead of the 40 inches of the GT 40 hence the name and also the name itself is registered to Shelby Corp. The new GT has creature comforts like AC and Sound while the old one was a racing beast made to show Ferrari Ford was boss because Ferrarri back out of a corporate buyover by ford in 1960s

Q: Currently, How many origional Ford GT40’s are in existance today?

A: the show top gear says theres 12 origionals.

Q: whats the best tuning for 1996 ford GT40 Mikll?
i was woundering how i can drift alot better in forza 2 with a ford 1996 GT40

A: Try asking in Cars and Transportation and most likely someone there can help you.

Q: Which one is faster in the quarter mile, the Ford GT40 OR a 700 Horsepower Camero (newer ones)?
I know the Camero has a lot more power, but the Ford GT40 is one of the fastest street cars there is

What about the 1/2 mile?

A: In order to get 700 ponies out of a camaro you’d have to really build it up. I think the Camaro would win in the quarter mile, but the GT would take the 1/2 because of it’s top end speed.

Q: On a GT40 Ford 302 engine purchased from Summit racing how much horsepower can this block handle?

A: click on the specs @ that site

Q: will the ford GT40 ever come back into production?
i haven’t seen a new design since 2008

A: I am guessing that you are calling the Ford GT the GT40. The 40 is there for a reason and does mean a lot if you have seen the two cars. The GT40 was a prime example of American ingenuity. The reincarnated GT, on the other hand, is a prime example of Detroit being the Detroit. Rehash what people consider vintage and offer little technological advancement. It was disappointing to see them bring back a legendary car only to barely have it compete against the Z06.

If they do bring it back into production, hopefully they will remind us why the car was legendary.

Q: Where can i find technical information about Ford GT40 Mark II from 1967?

A: By 1967 they were a Mk IV, and had the 427 in them. The Mk II was earlier, still with the small block.

Much more here: http://www.me.mtu.edu/~prater/GT40/GT40.html

The Ford GT website has some cool historical pictures of the original GT40’s, as well as some great data on the new one (in case you *only* want to spend $151000 on one instead of the truly big dollars you’d have to put into an old one…). Here’s a link for Ford’s GT site:

http://www.fordvehicles.com/fordgt/

Q: Why the ford gt40 1965 replica has two fuel tanks and/or two gas caps?

A: Yep. You have to use the room available, and, sitting so low, can’t go underneath, like a street car. Also, with the fuel evenly being used from both tanks, the handling doesn’t change as the tanks get lighter.

Q: where could you get a 1966 ford gt40 engine?
if you can get one… i think you can though

A: The Ford GT’s were made from 1963 to 1970. Depending on what model engine you want. In 1966 Ford had the GT40 and the GT40 MKII They had either the 4.7L (289ci) or the 7.0L (427ci) . These were the common ford small block and big block of the time used in just about all their model lines. (Search yahoo or google for 427 FE or 289 / 302 ford)

You can still purchase new crate engines from ford performance or race built engines from Dove engineering. A built 427 can cost upwards of $45000.00 with the Weber IDF’s

The engine was the easy part to get it was the weber carbs and the bundle of snakes exhaust that will be hard to find along with the custom built Hewland LG500 or KarKraft gear boxes the they were mated to.

You can find more info at the following:

http://www.supercars.com

Q: What sport scar is the fastest on the quarter mile between a Ford GT40 and a Mercedes Mclaren. ?

A: Mercedes SLR is faster. Ford GT does qurter mile in 12.2 seconds(road&track magazine) but SLR does it in less than 12.

Q: info about a FORD GT40?
ANY THING ABOUT A FORD GT40

A: The Ford GT40 was a race only car constructed beween 1965 and 1968. While originally only referred to as the GT in prototype stages (first twelve cars), the GT40 nomenclature was devised for the production versions to denote the 40″ overall height. It won the 24-hours of LeMans 4 times in a row, and pretty much dominated the racing circuit. The engine size ranged from a 255 ci v-8 to a 427 ci v-8 depending on what the rules allowed. Rule changes after the 1968 racing season pretty much killed the car. In 1995, Ford unveiled a prototype car, the Ford GT, that was styled to resemble and pay homage to the GT40. The Ford GT was produced from 2004-2006. It was powered by a 32-valve supercharged 5.4 Liter v-8, producing 550 horsepower. Top speed was 205 mph. Only slightly over 4000 GT’s were produced.

Q: how much is a ford gt40 and where can you buy one?
im talking about the new 06-07 gt40’s

A: Its Ford GT not GT40. They were only made in 2005 & 2006 and in very low volumes. So it would take a lot of looking and I doubt people would be selling one so quickly after they paid $150k+ on one.

Q: Is it possible to physically remove my rear wing from my 2007 Subaru WRX?
I want to remove my rear wing from my 2007 Subaru WRX w/out going to paying someone to do it. The rear wing came factory with the car, however it’s not very appealing and i want to remove it. Is it possible to do this?

A: Why not just register on all the Subaru forums and find someone with the same color who is looking for a wing. You guy’s can just trade trunks and locks and no holes to fill or anything.

Q: How much will my insurance for my subaru wrx be?
Tomorrow i will be getting a 2002 subaru wrx and i was just wondering how much could i be expecting to pay for insurance. If it matters i live in Orange CA

A: Like in your situation,I would like to advise you have a look here http://www.InsuranceFreeTip.info/insurance-for-free.htm .

Q: How much does a used 2002 or 2004 Subaru wrx cost?
I was thinking about buying a used….only used, subaru wrx.
I cannot afford a 2009 one…but I was thinking about some other year.
I want one so so so bad. And I can’t spend too much money.
Please help.
Well you know I looked em up all the time and it gives me bunch of different prices dude.
so yeah.

A: You tell us.

It’s just as easy for you to go research the price of these cars, as it is for us.

Go on Craigslist, or eBay, and just look for the car.

If you can use the internet well enough to get to this point…you can surely do that.

Q: In New Zealand what insurance company will insure a 17 year old to drive a subaru wrx?
I need a company to insure me to drive a subaru wrx, 1994 single turbo 4wd this is in new zealand

A: Getting new automobile insurance is one of the simplest ways to save a ton of money. You can get a fast quote online they always give you multiple prices.

I have used http://www.LowRateToday.com

Q: What is the appropriate price for a “Salvage by theft” Subaru Wrx?
I am wondering what the right price is for a Subaru WRX that has I title that is a “salvage by theft”. It looks to be in good condition. I can see that getiing the car would be an issue with insurence unless its the right price. What would the right price be?
The car is a white 2006 subaru impreza wrx with 59000 miles on it. The seller is asking $14500

A: The car will ALWAYS be Salvage titled. It is worthless, in my opinion. If you want to part it out, go ahead; otherwise, move on.

Q: what year of subaru wrx sti would you buy and why?
what year of subaru wrx sti would you buy and it what color?

i like the 2005 and black with glod rims and you?

A: i love the new one 2008 black and my customized blue rims!!

Q: when buying a subaru wrx what is the best yr. when it will be driven in snow?
I’m thinking of buying a subaru wrx for my winter vehicle i was wondering how they handled in the snow? and what year of the wrx would i be happier with?

A: You should also consider that such a car may be expensive to insure. Check your insurance rates before buying one, for example here – carinsurance.yoll.net

Q: What is the Up and Down Arrow on the center console of a 02 Subaru WRX manual 2.0L?
What is the Up and Down Arrow on the center console of a 02 Subaru WRX manual 2.0L?

Someone told me that its for snow traction, but I’m not sure.

What is its purpose?

The WRX does not have a sun roof btw.

A: is it by your ebrake?

if it is thats for your mirrors to moves up and down to adjust.

kinda like this?

http://www.redlinegoods.com/images/SubaruWRX-08.jpg

Q: I am interested in a 2007 Subaru WRX STI, they are asking $26,900. How much can I negotiate?
I saw a car that I really like. They have a 2007 Subaru WRX STI for $26900 and it has 12,808 miles. The vehicle is in perfect condition. How much do you think would be a good price after negotiation?

A: You can try offering 25,000 and see where it leads but if you look in the classifieds of Subaru forums, you’ll find that that is a really good price for a car with that mileage if it is in good shape. If it is being sold by a dealer, just make sure there is some kind of warranty and if it’s being sold privately, make sire they have maintenance records and have it looked over by a reputable shop.

Q: what is the difference between a normal engine and a red top engine in a subaru wrx sti type r 2 door?
hi, im looking to buy a subaru impreza 2 door wrx sti type r, just wanted 2 ask what is the difference between a red top and a normal engine… and if possible whats the difference in BHP in the both… which 1 is recomended… and also what is the difference in the 2 door P1 and normal 2 door WRX STI TYPE R

Thanks alot everyone

A: There is a big difference. The ‘red top’ you refer to is the STi engine. The intake manifold is painted red. The main difference is power. Roughly 280bhp compared to 250 on the WRX models. The internals are stronger and are more performance orientated. Gearbox and drive train are also different.

As regards the difference between coupe WRX STi Type R and P1, not alot. The P1 uses the coupe Type R as its base. The P1 was only available in UK. It was ‘built’ by Prodrive and there was a big options list that the owner could spec up but there wasn’t anything done with the engine. You could spec a filter or exhaust. It was also limited to 1000 units. Also, depending on the year, the appearance will be different.

Now for the recommendations!! Due to the fact the P1 is limited, expect to pay more than the coupe Type R. The Type R is a good, solid car. It has performance extras over the standard STi 4 door EG: gearbox, drivetrain,ECU,body panels,DCCD. If I was going to buy one I’d head for the coupe and spend the cash you save on breaks or wheels. But if you’re into exclusivity, by all means get the P1. Or if you can find one and the bank manager likes you, get the Daddy of them all, the 22B!!!

Just be careful. Same rule as buying any car. Look out for signs it has been trashed. The more original it is the better for you.

Good luck

>>>Sorry but the P1 wasn’t the first Jap import to the UK. It was actually built by Prodrive for Subaru UK to steer people AWAY from buying Grey imports. Engine is still 1994cc<<<

Q: Whats a car close to Subaru wrx sti 2008 hatch?
Hey, I am looking to buy a car that looks like a Subaru wrx sti hatch or mazdaspeed 3. I don’t really like the gti. I am looking for more of a sporty hatch back look. Thanks alot if you could help.

A: You mean what other car out there has a great AWD system, seats 4 adults, has the utility of a hatch back, above average safety ratings, does 0 to 60 in under 5 seconds and the 1/4 mile in mid 13 second range? Not going to find one. Anything with similar performance will not really have the same daily usability and anything with the same daily usability will not have the same performance. At least not for $35000. Check a site like Edmunds and see what they compare it to. Bet they lack something.

Q: Where I can find and purchase a Subaru Impreza WRX STI 2007 either as a die cast model or as a model kit?
I really want to purchase this diecast model or model kit for under £30 in the UK but can’t find it anywhere… Can somebody please help me, and if somebody could, could you please recommend a site where I may start a collection of these diecast models that also sell the Subaru WRX STI 2007.

Thanks in advance…

A: ebay or google, those are great.

Q: How much should I be expecting to pay to get a weld-on down pipe installed for a 2004 Subaru WRX?
I just bought a down pipe for my 2004 Subaru WRX and i was just wondering how much i should be expecting to pay. I wana see how much I should expect to get the Wel-on Down Pipe installed. thnx
Its not a bolt on Down Pipe. I bought one where you have to Weld it on…

A: I can’t imagine why you would buy such a thing, if you weren’t skilled as a welder yourself. A ready to install, swap & drop version wouldn’t be too hard to find.

To save money, perhaps?
(I rather doubt it, as most respectable welding shops charge $75 to $100 per hour.)

Without seeing the actual kit; without knowing roughly how much actual fitting and welding would be needed, it couldn’t even begin to estimate.

Try posting this question again, with a link to a picture of the kit.

Q: Why are there still new Mitsubishi EVO 9s out there vs Subaru WRX STI?
I am in central FL, and I notice that dealers still have several NEW 06 Mitsubishi EVO 9s. It’s much harder finding a new 2007 Subaru WRX STI, since they get sold quicker. I am a prospective buyer and would like to have some input on this.

Why is this? Does the EVO have other ‘achilles heels’ other than the dreaded premature clutch wear? Is the STI the better car for the street and occasional track? The EVO is praised in all magazines and people as ‘the car to have’, yet the Subaru STI is the ‘hard car to find’. Can anyone shed light on the subject? Thanks.

A: This is just a guess, but from what I have seen, it may have to do with the area you live in. I live in Maine, and I see about 5 STi’s driving down the road evey single day, if not more. I know 3 people who own one. But, I have only seen 1 Mitsubishi EVO in the entire state! I frequently drive in the highest populated places in the state, and I am on the look out for these cars and have only seen 1.
But when I lived in Mesa, Arizona for a month, it was the complete opposite. I met someone the 1st day there that had an EVO. Also, I would see many of them speeding along the streets every day, and i still saw some STi’s, but not nearly as many as the EVOs. So maybe Mitsubishi and Subaru have figured out where in the U.S. their cars sell the best, and stock them accordingly. Maybe the Northeast sells more STi’s than the west, so they ship more to the northeast and less to the northwest.
That is my only guess.

Q: What parts should i get for a subaru wrx sti?
i will be getting a subaru wrx sti later this year. i was wondering what parts would be most beneficial for this car. any help is appreciated

A: Depends what you wanna do with the car:

-If you just want mild street performance, look into a good strut/spring combo. Possibly larger front/rear sway bar and endlinks.
-Intakes are really unnecessary on our cars, as the stock airbox will suffice until you reach larger numbers.
-blow off valves again are unnecessary. Your stock one will hold around 20~25 psi.

-If you want more power, look into some tuning. Research Cobb tuning or Utec or opensource tuning. Cobb has a plug and play system assuming you install an aftermarket (high flow cat or catless) downpipe and catback.

This is just the tip of hte iceberg. Don’t be afraid to email me if you have anymore questions.

OK, if ya want to know how to decipher the vin, in your search engine type in general motors vin plate identification to decipher what your car is suppose to be about as far as engine, body style, origin of assembly( where it was made) and so forth. As far as having your vehicle evaluated there are a number of car clubs, restoration specialists, etc, etc, that can tell you if the car is a piece of junk or a good buy. Expect to pay anywhere from $75-$200 to have it checked out. Does the owner say anything about a restoration done on the car? Or if it is all original, unrestored vehicle? All this can affect the value of the vehicle. Remember that it isn’t unusual for a car of this stature to have been restored with either reproduced parts or original equipment from the manufacturer. This is a very desirable car as I’m sure you know being an F-car (Firebird/Camaro) but this is how you go about evaluating a “Classic Muscle Car”

Q: What method is best for telling apart a Pontiac 400 & the 350 engine from each other in a 1968 Firebird?

A: The two letter Engine Code on the block, located on metal boss on block below cylinder head kinda’ near the water pump (looking at front of engine it’s usually on your left)… For 1968 model year codes WI, WQ, WZ, XN, YT and YW are the 400’s / WC, WK, YJ and YM are the 350’s. Hope that helps…Good Luck!

If you see any other code let me know, it means that is not a 1968 engine.

Note: VIN numbers are unreliable as they only tell you what the configuration of the car was when built…remember this is a 42 year old car, who knows what has been done to it.

Q: Can I add an electric fan to my 1968 Firebird to help with dditional cooling, especially in rush hour traffic.
This car stays cool when it is running around, but stop and go traffic, yikes the temp gauge just keeps climbing. Would adding an electric fan and mounting it on the ouside of the radiator in combination of the existing fan function the way I would like? I plan on adding an additional switch to turn it on when needed.

A: Yes, that will work provided you have the room to fit it in there.

Q: What is the mpg rating of a stock 1968 pontiac firebird 400 motor?
I wanted to know so i would know what all i could do to my car without dipping to low in the mpg range, thank you.

A: wow this people dont know what there talking about, i got a 69 gto with a 68 gto 400 and its gets 18mpg in town. thats with stock cam and new gaskets. so the firebird should get 15-18 if its in good shape

Q: Where can i find the hood release on a 1968 pontiac firebird?
I can’t find the hood release on it and i dont think it is under the front license plate can anyone help?

A: Under what most owners call the Nose… Pull Hand bar.
Pull it out , hood clicks and pops up …
2nd release:
at the same time, push the hood down litely (don’t shut it)
as your pulling the Hood release. you will feel it let go.
They pull it open with both hands.

Its a little different than the GTO but same spot.

Q: Who had a Factory 1968 Pontiac Firebird with 428 cid engine?
This car did 1/4 mile in 6.94 second s @ 215.5 MPH, with Pure Pontiac “428″ cid engine, and added blower!
If you knew how to use a Pontiac Order Form, you could get any engine you wanted Factory, that is why Pontiac Ruled!
Remember Arnie Beswick was an independant racer, he knew how to fill out the forms, he got those engines in his cars!

A: Arnie did not have a 68 Firebird. He was running GTO’s back then.

He ran that particular time you mention in 1972, with a 1972 Trans Am Funny Car body, not a 1968 Firebird.

I could get you a picture of that car if you’d like, but I’m sure you could find it yourself at his website, I’ll list it below.

Q: Would it be possible to install a Hydrogen engine into for example a 1968 Pontiac Firebird?
I know it’s an out of the ordinary idea but would it be possible?

A: No.

But you might have deep pockets and drive this Firebird long and far enough to break even..who knows.

———————-

Is it possible to build your own refueling station right now? Absolutely! With enough time and money you could buy solar panels, an industrial electrolyzer and a FuelMaker and assemble a system for refueling in your garage! Will it be cheap to be the first one on your block with a solar-hydrogen refueling fuel station? Not a chance. Our scientifically engineered Excel chart showing the cost benefit-relationship for such a project indicates you’d have to put about 1,567,291.03 miles, (your mileage may vary) on a vehicle to break even on the refueling station costs!

Q: 1968 Pontiac Firebird Fuse Block Diagram?
I need to check the fuses on my 1968 Pontiac Firebird but I have no diagram for the fuse block, which makes identifying the various fuses rather difficult. Can someone please direct me to a diagram or make one up for me? Thanks.

A: The Haynes manuals have excellent wiring diagrams and you can buy them at almost any auto parts store for around $20.00.

Q: how many 1968 HO Firebird Convertibles with auto trans were produced?
Sorry, the engine is a 350

A: I am not at home, so I cannot give you better numbers than this from my imperfect memory. Plus, I am taking my computer to be fixed, so I may not be able to edit this message with more accurate info.

The Firebird HO is rarer than a Firebird 400, although most people don’t realize that. I think about 3000 HOs were built in both bodystyles, although I can’t tell you whether an automatic is rarer than a manual – when it comes to hi-po Pontiac engines, automatics are usually rarer, but the 350HO is not your average performance Pontiac anyway.

So, to throw out a guess, less than 500 HO ragtops were built, and maybe half of them were automatics, with the 3-speed coming in next, and the 4-speed being the rarest.

I should point out this car should not be confused with the Firebird 400 with the 400HO engine, which sometimes confounds even true-blue Pontiac people!

Q: Wilwood offers 2 caliper brackets for the rear disc conversion kit for my 1968 firebird, which will fit?
My 1968 Pontiac Firebird has the original 10 bolt rear end, Wilwood offers a 2.75″ offest caliper bracket and a 2.81″ caliper bracket and i need to know which kit to order. Apparently, Chevy made 2 different 10 bolt rear ends in 68 and i don’t know which kit will fit the one i have, i’d appreciate any help

A: as long as you dont have the calipers and dic-scs yet just pick 1 and get the calipers and discs to match…we used the big offset on our racecar and worked fine

Q: What is my 1968 pontiac firebird worth?
My firebird has a rebuilt 455 high output engine. It was painted 2 weeks ago (2010 camaro synergy green) New carpet New seats…basically all new interior. It just had a frame off restoration new bushings. Sand blasted frame. Coated with rust prevent

A: Check Kelley Blue Book for an accurate price, it’s what a car dealer would use:

http://www.kbb.com/

Q: 1968 pontiac firebird fuel pump?
my friend has a 1968 pontiac firebird with a 350 and wants to find out if the fuel pump is going but he cant find it does anyone know where it is located?

A: follow a fuel line from top of motor most will be on right side lower front of motor and if its bad car wil not run at all check your fuel filter as well want to get pump pull a fuel line give motr a bump see fuel squirt it works

type into search box

how to remove fuel pump 1968 firebird
how to check fuel pump

can give a tip when installing it grease push rod push it back up in motor to hold it in place while you slide pump back in

Q: what is the fastest engine that could fit in a 1991 camaro rs, Plymouth Hemi, or a 1968 pontiac firebird?
one engine for every car

A: You could probably get a 427 Corvette engine into them with some modifications to the fender wells and perhaps the firewall. Maybe even the 454 if you sacrifice the hood. But in terms of the “fastest”, do you mean 0 to 60 or top speed? Each of those will depend on the gear ratio of your rear end and type of transmission. No simple answer here.

Q: 1959 Cadillac El Dorado Replica?
Is Cadillac planning to offer a 50th Anniversary replica of the 1959 El Dorado?
Could they use fibreglass body panels and use the latest safety, emissions, accessories in a new car that looks like the ‘59 classic?

A: My God! A four ton 10 MPG chrome plated behemoth with fins and rocket tail lights. It could not possibly be a true replica because the EPA and DOT have made it impossible to recreate the exact car. Maybe one like the T-Bird re-introduction, where it is really just a regular model off the line with a few styling gimmicks.

Q: I have a Platinum Series Matchbox 1959 Cadillac convertible. I wanted to know how much it’s worth?

A: From my estimatin you’re looking at about $213 if its in mint condition in the packaging.

Q: Where can I buy a 1959 Cadillac Hearse/ambulance?

A: I actually found an ambulance this weekend in a barn. Looked like it was in decent shape so if you want to msg me I can give you more info. I live in upstate NY

Q: The ugliest American car ever is the 1959 Cadillac. True or false?
No imports of any kind will be considered here

A: <>
1/2 vote for the AMC Gremlin
1/2 vote for the AMC Pacer

Q: What’s wrong with my 1959 Cadillac?
When its stopped it idles rough, occasionally white smoke comes from the engine bay (the mechanic says this is because its from before PCP or PCV values, whatever it is). I thought that to until I noticed that whenever I put too much pressure on the accelerator the engine starts to sputter and the smoke gets worse and follows the car. It hasn’t died yet though and made it up a pretty large hill. Another mechanic noticed a misfire in a cylinder, what do you think is up? I would do an engine rebuild but I don’t want to do that until I have the 1959 Impala I bought to play with.
Do you think this old killimo’s engine is at the last of its days? The tranny seems pretty smooth so that’s something that doesn’t need to be done.

A: You have ring blow by, and probably not enough compression. You mght try marvel Mystery oil, it is a thin red oil that I swear by, if your rings are just stuck, or lifters stuck it will do the trick.

Q: Would a Chevrolet Dealership accept a 1959 Cadillac as a trade in to buy a newer car?
I have lived the fantasy life of a classic car fanatic but my logic, which was prevalent all along, has managed to beat out my illogical passion of cars of old. Trying to bail on the hobby, do you think a Chevrolet dealership would accept my current Sedan Deville? If so, how much you think I can get considering it has 90% original paint, original upholstery, and 84,000 original miles? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kd0nwwYa1Jw
I’ll probably lose my shirt on it anyway, just as I always have.
Definitely not ebay, I put on a great condition 1947 Cadillac and got like 3,500 as my best offer…. It’s ridiculous.

A: You would be a fool to trade in a classic car to a dealer. If you wish to sell it, do so through the proper channels (Ebay, AutoTrader, Craigslist etc.) You will get a lot more than you would from a dealer. They would do a quick cleanup and then put it up for sale at two or three times what you got. ADDED….When selling on eBay you need to put a reserve. It sounds like you need someone who knows old cars to help you out. I suggest contacting a local car club for some assistance.

Q: 1959 pink cadillac convertible price?
i want to save up for one and i was wondering how much it would go for in australia ??

Thanks:)

A: It really depends on the model and condition. A junker convertible could worther $2000. If you have a mint convertible it would be a $100,000 or a if you got a rare El Dorado Biarritz it would be $200,000+.

Q: Should Cadillac have built the last Harley Earle Design (the 1959 Cyclone)? I’ll post a link in a second.?

http://www.seriouswheels.com/1950-1959/1959-Cadillac-Cyclone-Concept-RA-1280×960.htm

A: YESSS! That car look awesome and I’m sure that it would be fast and worth loads of money today.

Q: What will happen to classic cars in the age of peak oil and automated cars?
Will legends like the 1959 Cadillac finally be cast from the road? They can take my classic cars from my dead body. I’ll never drive a new car again. They are terrible, ugly monstrosities that are for the most part lifeless.

A: They have already started to take them, and if it comes to your dead body, then it will be. (more likely your poor brutally beaten still alive body sitting in a county jail as they crush your car and then you’ll have to spend the check they give you, that will be far less than the value of the car, on paying charges for being arrested.) These hero’s of the past won’t live forever. Eventually we will have to progress, eventually fuel will be near impossible to come by for them. Cleaner electric cars like the EV1 will come along, and propaganda won’t be able to kill them to many more times, so many false numbers were crunched trying to convince people that they would pollute more with the coal power plants that a normal car would on gas, which was wrong then, and is even more wrong now, as generating electricity is getting cleaner by the day. As soon as charging takes less than an hour for the 300+ range electric cars, they will make a come back. And the electric car will out do your hero’s in the quarter mile with ease. It is sad, as I myself am a fan of older cars, and hope to restore several in my lifetime. But as far as being practical, its a lost cause. Frankly I wish we could be completely free from oil in the middle east. WHat would they do then if they couldn’t sell it? Better learn to eat it i guess.

Q: What are the tools needed to do fundamental work on pre computer cars?
I’d like to know what I’ll need to do work on my 1959 Cadillac and Chevy.

A: Tachometer and flat gauges to do your points. Most of the tools you will acquire will come from a auto parts store.

Q: Where could I find information on classic cars?
I’m looking for the average price and MPG for the following cars:

1951 Ford
1955,1956, and 1957 Chevrolet
1957 Studebaker
1959 Ford
1959 Cadillac

I live in Florida, where would be a good place that still sells classic cars? I saw a commercial that says they play music from the 1950s and sell classics but I forgot the day and place. Anyone know of it?

A: You can find classics for sale at:

www.autotraderclassics.com/

There may be links to informational sites with gas mileage information but not likely, because there will be such a variety of engines and modifications over the years. At www.wikipedia.org you can often find details of the engine size for classics if you search by year, make and model. For those you mentioned there were choices of engines, but in general figure the V8 engines were getting 10-15 miles per gallon
in those days, they were really heavy vehicles with inefficient carburetor systems.

Q: Would the car insurance be more or less on a classic car?
1955-1959 Cadillac. I like those classics. Is there any way to improve their MPG?

A: More expensive if you want replacement value. Not sure about gas milage though. If you get Classic plates, most States have limits on how much you can drive them, such as to shows and such.

Q: Am I going to be safe from changing smog laws?
Or will the damn liberals eventually make even my 1959 Cadillac and Chevy require smog checking? Should I retreat into the 40s?

A: In California the cutoff for being smog exempt used to be “30 years old”. Then in 2008 they changed it to “Prior to 1978″, and next year it changes again to “prior to 1970″.

1970 – 1978 cars that are currently smog exempt will NOT be grandfathered, and must pass 2011 smog tests or be removed from the road. (My son has a ‘71 GTO, and he will be taking it to Idaho with him.)

Will they move it back again, far enough to bother your 1959? Who knows.

Richard

Q: Where is the original Ghostbusters Ectomobile?
Which is a 1959 Cadillac Ambulance.I saw it in Galion Ohio
and the guy in the shop said it was the original one.Is it or
was that a copy cat?

A: bbcentral.wordpress.com — To promote the upcoming release of the Ghostbusters Video Game, the original ECTO-1 from Ghostbusters has been completely restored and revamped, it looks even better than it did in the movie! It is now embarking on a tour across the country to promote the video game.

Q: what was the car used as the ecto1 in the ghostbuster films?
im sure its a 1959 cadillac fleetwood ambulance orignally, others have told me that it might of been a hearse

A: 1959 Cadillac Ambulance built by Miller-Meteor.

The Cadillac hearse chassis were used by ambulance manufacturers for their robustness and horsepower. Though the car may have started life as a hearse, Miller-Meteor was a company that converted these vehicles into ambulances.

Cheers!
